* JOINT FUSION *

jointing_abs.gif

A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF USING ABS /PVC / CPVC  IS TO CONSIDER THAT A JOINT IS NOT GLUED, BUT IT IS FUSED AND THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE :
THE SOCKET OR FEMALE PORTION IS SLIGHTLY TAPER
(TEST A DRY FIT AND NOTE THAT THE PIPE DOES NOT GO TO THE VERY END OF THE SOCKET. )
THIS IS TO ALLOW THE PIPE AND THE SOCKET TO FUSE (MELT) TOGETHER FOR AT LEAST 1/3 OF THE SOCKET'S DEPHT.
ALWAYS BE VERY GENEROUS WITH THE CEMENT AS IT MUST MELT
THE MATING SURFACES.
